PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION HELD SEPTEMBER 13, 2001

1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by the Vice-chair, Emma Darknell

IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
August minutes approved.
V. REPORT FROM THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE:
Sergeant Burgess distributed and discussed the monthly crime statistics ibr the month of August 2001.
Commissioner Darknell brought up the traffic issue at Faria School per Commissioner Zander. Sgt.
Burgess advised the Commission that the Traffic Safety Commission is looking at the situation.
The Commission discussed alternatives to increase the flow of the traffic around the schools.
Commissioner Majewski suggested having a right turn only sign as you exit the school property. Sgt.
Burgess stated that she would look into the issue and follow-up accordingly.
Commissioner Darknell relayed a concern from Commissioner Zander regarding the problems with photo
enforcement. Sgt. Burgess informed the Commission that there are no problems with Lockheed.
However, APAC is still not functional.
Sgt. Burgess discussed the statistics for the red light photo enforcement. Commissioner Majewski asked
about the meaning behind the numbers and what the number represent. Sgt. Burgess advised the
commission that she would give an update on the statistics and the meaning of the numbers at a later date.
Sgt. Burgess introduced Detective Mike Powers. Detective Powers gave a brief overview his job as a
detective. Detective Powers explained that when they are investigating crimes they look for common
trends that can help piece things together.

VI. REPORT FROM COUNTY FIRE:
Chief Sporleder distributed the monthly statistics for the month of July 2001.
Chief Sporleder introduced Ken Waldvogel who gave a demonstration on Argus 2, a heat sensor camera.
The camera helps pinpoint heat generated items such as people and fires.
