CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chair Davis called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. in the Commrmity Hall
Cormcil Chamber, 10350 Torre Ave., Cupertino, CA.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Regular Meeting of September 1, 2016
Chair Davis deferred approval of meeting minutes due to lack of quorum of
commissioners who attended that meeting.
Special Meeting of September 23, 2016
Commissioner Wilson motioned to approve the special meeting minutes of
September 23, 2016, Commissioner Frmg seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
Acting Director, Christine Hanel recapped events in September:
• 9/10-Fall Festival had estimated 3,000 attendees
• 9/23-Parks & Rec. Comm. Park Tour to Palo Alto and San Jose
• Block Leaders -Commrmication training held
Upcoming events:
• 10/8-Dog Fest event @ Memorial Park
• 10/15-Diwali Festival @ Memorial Park
• 10/20-Pizza & Politics event-Teen Commission@ Quinlan
• 10/22-Harvest Festival@ Blackberry Farm
• 10/27-Hidden Treasures frmdraiser@ Senior Center
PerfectMind system software consultants met with staff this week to start
configuration.
Commission Reports:
Commissioner Wilson attended the Fall Festival, Commission Park tour and
October Mayor's meeting.
Commissioner Fung attended the Fall Festival and Commission Park tour.
Vice Chair Davis played foot golf at Blackberry with group from Rotary.
Attended the September Mayor's meeting. Attended the Sister Cities' sign
unveiling in front of City Hall.
NEW BUSINESS
2. Introd,uction to new Rec. & Comm. Services staff.
Christine Hanel introduced each new staff: Nancy Bess, Special Programs
Coordinator at the Senior Center. Branton Curt, Special Programs
Coordinator for department marketing and has office at Quinlan.
OLD BUSINESS
3. Santa Clara Valley Water District Presentation: Rancho San Antonio County
Park Detention Basin-Lotina Nishijima, PE, Associate Civil Engineer
The attached was presented to Commission. Discussion followed.
4. City Wide Parks, Open Space and Recreation Master Plan Update
More discussion to follow at the special meeting on 10/25/16
5. 2015-16 Work Plan
Main Street park project to be scheduled in November or December
Special meeting called for 10/25/16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Quinlan Community
Center, Cupertino room to discuss the City Wide Parks, Open Space &
Recreation Master Plan and Beekeeping Ordinance.
ADJOURNMENT -Vice Chair Davis adjourned the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
