CALL TO ORDER
Chair Stanek called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Hall
Council Chamber, 10350 Torre Ave., Cupertino, CA.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Special Meeting of August 4, 2016
Commissioner Fung moved to approve the special minutes of August 4, 2016.
Commissioner Tambe seconded and motion passed unanimously.
STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
Acting Director, Christine Hanel recapped events in August: successful National
Night Out partnered with Target, numerous block leader parties held; summer
events Cinema and Shakespeare successfully concluded at Memorial Park; Kids
‘N Fun event held. Upcoming events:
9/10 SV Fall Festival @ Memorial Park
10/15 Diwali Festival @ Memorial Park
10/22 Harvest Festival @ BBF
10/27 Hidden Treasures @ Senior Center
Commission Reports:
Commissioner Fung attended meetings regarding the City Wide Parks Open
Space Master Plan.
Commissioner Davis participated in her neighborhood block party.

Commissioner Tambe attended various community events. Promoted the
Hidden Treasures annual fundraiser coming in October.
Chair Stanek attended meetings regarding the City Wide Parks Open Space
Master Plan and toured the new Apple campus led by City staff.
NEW BUSINESS
2. Introduction to new Rec. & Comm. Services staff.
Christine Hanel introduced each new staff: Mariah Dabel, Recreation
Manager for newly formed Business & Community Services division.
Adrianna Stankovich, Case Manager, the second case manager at the Senior
Center.
Keith Wandry, Special Programs Coordinator, at McClellan Ranch.
OLD BUSINESS
3. City Wide Parks, Open Space and Recreation Master Plan Update
Christine Hanel gave update after staff and commissioners met with
consultant. Consultant focusing on next steps and expect to present to
Commission at the next meeting.
4. 2015-16 Work Plan
September: Move Main Street Park and S.C. Valley Water District
presentation to the October agenda.
Chair Stanek called Special meeting for Friday, September 23 for a field trip to
inclusive playgrounds to the Magical Bridge in Palo Alto and the Rotary Play
Garden in San Jose. Public is invited to meet at these sites but will need to
provide their own transportation. Public notice will be posted.
The Parks & Recreation Commission will present the FY16-17 Work Plan to
Council on September 20, 2016.
October: Move Age-Friendly item to meeting in early Winter timeframe, to be
determined.
The November Parks & Recreation Commission meeting will be held on
November 17 at McClellan Ranch, Environmental Educational Center.
