BPC 01-10-00 MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE CUPERTINO BICYLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE January 10,2000 Conference Room A ROLL CALL Committee member Bernie Album, Doug Herrick, Fred Holmes, Anne Ng, and Joseph Walton were present. Chris Klein was absent. Staff: Raymond Chong. Guests: David Greenstein, and Phil Underwood. 1. Minutes: December 13, 1999 regular meeting. Motion by Walton, second by Ng, minutes approved. CONSENT CALENDAR - none WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS - none ORAL COMMUNICATIONS- Phil Underwood reported on "Walk San Jose." OLD BUSINESS - NEW BUSINESS 2. Election of Officers for calendar year 2000. Motion by Album, second by Walton, Committee elected Herrick as Chair, Ng as Vice Chair, and Greenstein as Secretary, pending his appointment by City Council. 3. Annual Goals and Objectives of Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Committee discussed potential annual goals and objectives. Goals list include: Pedestrian Transportation Plan, Union Pacific Railroad Trail, Stevens Creek Recreational Trail, Mary Avenue Bicycle Foot Bridge, Cycle Commute Cupertino, and Bicycle Transportation (includes destination signs, education, network access, Bicycle Transportation Plan implementation, bike detectors, etc.) 4. Pedestrian Transportation Plan. Tabled until next meeting. 5. Subcommittee Reports a. Stevens Creek Recreation Trail. Tabled for next meeting. b. Union Pacific Railroad Trail Ng reported on status on resolutions and letters on support of the Trail from the various of cities. County Parks Commission will consider project for their 2001 Capital Improvements Program at their February 2 meeting. c. Mary Avenue Bicycle Foot Bridge Album discussed future strategy meeting held with Jana Sokale, consultant. d. Other Bike Lanes & Bike Routes. Merged into new Bicycle Transportation Subcommittee. e. Cycle Commute Cupertino. Ng will award "Bike-To-Work Day" to Lynbrook High School at January 18, 2000 City Council meeting. f. Destination Signs Chong reported that City Council wants to install bike destination signs. Merged into new Bicycle Transportation Subcommittee. 6. Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Reports a. Bicycle Advisory Committee Walton discussed Measure A funding for bicycle improvements. b. Valley Transportation Plan 2020 - Bicycle Element No report. 7. Capital Improvement Projects & Neighborhood Traffic Calming Measures. Chong presented an update. 2 8. Assignments to Subcommittees.
