Subcommittee Reports
a. Pedestrian Transportation Plan: Joe wants to make more changes to the plan. He will have them
ready for Doug by Friday, June 16.
b. Bicycle Transportation: Ray was to present major attractor recommendations to city staff, but
Ray was not present to report. Deferred to next meeting.
c. Cycle Commute Cupertino: Bike-to-Work (BTW) Day was held May 16. Anne said participation
was poor at Quinlan energizer station due to an overcast sky and cold temperature. 103 people
passed by Pruneridge and Tantau energizer station, which was considered a high number of
people. 2,000 "I Cycle Commuted" yellow cards were distributed around the city, 1,800 were
taken from displays, and 250 cards were filled out and returned. Card postage was $58 total for
all that came in the mail. Anne passed out a spreadsheet of prize winners. Joe will frame BTW
Week poster, by Giro, and put up on city hall wall. Only $500 of $1 ,000 budget was spent. The
committee recommends increasing the budget to $2,000, buying a banner, and putting ads in local
papers. Fred suggested putting Quinlan energizer station on opposing side of the street next year
to attract more cyclists.

NEW BUSINESS
Lobbying City Council
Doug lobbied all city council members over the phone. All council members gave positive
reactions, so Doug feels our budget will get passed.
Bicycle Citation Diversion Policy
Sergeant Angus: Educational program for cyclists cited for traffic violations. This program is to
specifically target school children under 18 years of age. Current education programs, including
Safe Moves, does not always help because it lacks reinforcement by parents. New program will
require a 2 hour class where child and parent participate. Officer Angus asked committee to
supply a person(s) to help teach this class. The class outline will be distributed in July, and classes
to start in September. The committee fully endorsed the program.
Change in meeting dates
Ray proposed changing the meeting dates due to his conflicts. He suggested Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Thursday nights. The committee prefers 3" Monday, then Wednesday, then
Thursday. David will follow up with Ray to detennine the next meeting.
