BPC 03-15-01 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CUPERTINO BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE Thursday, Marchi 5, 2001 Council Chamber Cupertino City Hall 10300 Torre Avenue Cupertino CA 95014 MINUTES ATTENDANCE Chair Greenstein called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. In addition to Chair Greenstein, the following Committee members were present: Herrick, Ng, Stern, and Walton. The following Committee members were absent: none. Two Committee vacancies. Staff present: Chong. Public present: Stuart Chessen. APPROVAL OF MINUTES-February 15,2001 Motion by Walton, second by Ng, the Committee approved the minutes. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS None. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None. CONSENT CALENDAR None. OLD BUSINESS 2. Subcommittee Reports a. Pedestrian Transportation Plan - Dates: April 19 - Final draft for review and comment. May 17 - BP AC recommendation for approval. June 18 - City Council approval. Chong to coordinate meeting with subcommittee and Michelle DeRobertis. b. Bicycle Transportation Plan - Walton and Stern will review status of projects. c. Cycle Commute Cupertino - Walton and Ng discuss the kickoff on Sunday May 13 and coordination on the press release with Rick Kitson, new Public Information Officer. d. Mary Avenue Bicycle Footbridge - Herrick described the interviews for feasibility study consultant selection on February 22. Steven Grover & Associates of Berkeley was selected. City Council action on agreement is on March 19. Public input are scheduled for July 19, August 16, and September 20 BPAC meetings. e. Union Pacific Railroad Trail- Stakeholders forum was held on March 1 in Cupertino. City Council approved various actions on memorandum of understanding, fund transfer agreement, feasibility study agreement on March 5. Anne Ng was appointed as citizen representative. Community meeting for Cupertino is planned for the BP AC on June 21. Alta Transportation Consulting will facilitate. f. Stevens Creek Trail- Greenstein was elected chair to the Task Force. A series of community meetings are planned for the year. g. Regnart Creek Trail- Herrick will walk the Trail with staff. 3. Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Report a. Bicycle Advisory Committee - Walton discussed the election of the next chair. He also talked about the situation on Page Mill Road near State Route 280 in Palo Alto. 4. Capital Improvements Projects and Nei2hborhood Traffic Calmin2 Measures Status Report Chong presented his report. 5. Bikes Belon2 Coalition Grant Chong reported that grant application and proposal was mailed. 6. Year 2001 Goals and Objectives Motion by Herrick, second by Walton, the Committee approved the year 2001 goals and objectives with modifications. Chair Greenstein will present a report to City Council on April 2. 7. Cupertino Destinations Map Si2n Walton discussed the complexity of the sign with Ralph Qualls, Director of Public Works. He will revise the sign with help from Curtis Bloomquist of the Service Center. 8. Bicycle Promotion Pro2ram Chair Greenstein has developed a BP AC website in coordination with Kimberly Smith, City Clerk. 2 NEW BUSINESS 9. Committee Appointment Motion by Walton, second by Stern, the Committee recommended the appointment of Stuart Chessen to the Committee to the City Council. Other Business None.
