Regular Meeting

CALL TO ORDER
At 7:36 p.m. Chairperson Jane Mohr called the meeting order in Conference
Room A.

ROLL CALL
Present: Chairperson Janet Mohr, Commissioners Stephen Beard, Hema
Kundargi, Carl Off, Mary Sievert, Rita Young
Absent: Charlene Pai
City staff present: City Clerk Kimberly Smith, Recording Secretary Dorothy

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Off moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of October 26, 1999.
Kundargi seconded and motion carried unanimously with Pai absent.
4.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS
City Clerk announced that Euphrat Museum will be holding an exhibit called
Passing from November 23 - January 27. She also stated that the California
Youth Symphony sent a thank you note for the Fine Arts grant they received.
Beard reported on French artist Brigitte Curt who teaches in Cupertino and was
highlighted in American Artist.

NEW BUSINESS
A.
New Council Goal Setting Process
City Clerk reported that the new mayor would like to have a more
involved goal process. The process was described and the Commission
determined that the goals for 2000 should be 1) Four Seasons Comer, 2)
children's area mural and 3) outreach to other community arts
organizations. The Commission also decided to include three annual
recurring projects which are 1) semi-annual grants, 2) selection of
Distinguished Artist of the Year and 3) annual student art project at the
Cherry Blossom Festival.

The Commission also decided to include three areas where City Council
can support the Fine Arts Commission. Those areas were: I) promote
permanent art in both public and private spaces, 2) support visual and
performing arts activities, including cross-cultural events, and 3) increase
awareness of the City's role in supporting arts in the community.

OLD BUSINESS
A.
Status report on Four Seasons Comer
City Clerk reported that the Kimpton Group will be the developer for the
hotel. She stated that this developer is known for taking over smaller
hotels and converting them to high quality boutique hotels with an
emphasis on service. The plan at this time is that the Pegasus Group will
be doing the apartments and the Kimpton Group will be doing the hotel.
City Clerk also described a rough concept ofthe hotel development.
7.
COMMISSIONER AND LIAISON REPORTS
A.
Mayor's breakfast
Kundargi volunteered to attend the mayor's breakfast on January 11 at
7:30 a.m.
