CALL TO ORDER
Chair Stanek called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Hall
Council Chamber, 10350 Torre Ave., Cupertino, CA.

Commissioners present: David Fung, Helene Davis, Carol Stanek, Judy
Wilson, Neesha Tambe
Commissioners absent: None
Staff present: Carol Atwood, Gail Seeds, Timm Borden, Alex
Acenas, Liz Nunez
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Noel Eberhardt, Cupertino resident, inquired about status of Code Enforcement
officer. Director Atwood advised him that interviews are scheduled.
Alicia Schober and Maddi Pascua spoke on behalf of Leadership 95014 extended
invitation to commissioners to attend the graduation breakfast and presentation
for “All inclusive play for special needs and underserved” on May 11 at
Community Hall.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Regular meeting of April 7, 2016
Commissioner Fung moved to approve the minutes of April 7, 2016.
Commissioner Tambe seconded and motion passed unanimously.
STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
Director of Recreation and Community Services, Carol Atwood reviewed the
April and May events:
April:
4/5 - Study session with City Council for Stevens Creek Blvd Corridor
to McClellan Ranch Master Plan- to be continued at later date
4/23-24 – Cherry Blossom Festival

4/30 – Earth Day – Second intercept event for the City Wide Park Open
Space master plan
177 on-line surveys completed to date; City website updated and using
other social media.
May:
5/5 – FY 16-17 Rec. & Comm. Serv. CIP presentation and Rotary
proposal for Stocklmeir property to Parks & Rec. Comm.
5/7 - Third intercept event to be held at Cupertino Day at BBF
5/24 – Interviews for PT Code Enforcement officer for Stevens Creek
Corridor
5/11 – Leadership 95014 Graduation breakfast and presentations
5/11 – Block Leadership appreciation event at Senior Center in evening
5/11- Senior Center Mystery trip departure to international venue
5/14 – World Journal Festival
5/23 – Special Community meeting – City Wide Park Open Space
Master Plan at Community Hall
Other events: International Yoga day in June; Parks Make Life Better event
at summer concerts in June and July.
Commission Reports:
Commissioner Wilson attended the Mayor’s meeting. Attended Copertino Sister
City meeting and interview meeting with Chamber and consultant for City Wide
Park Master Plan.
Commissioner Fung attended Stevens Creek Corridor Master Plan Council study
session. Participated in the intercept event on Earth Day for City Wide Park Master Plan.
Plans to attend the Leadership 95014 presentations and Cupertino Day intercept event at
BBF.
Chair Stanek attended Stevens Creek Corridor Master Plan Council study session.
Participated in the intercept event on Earth Day for City Wide Park Master Plan. And
attended the BBF Neighborhood meeting.
Commissioner Davis attended the stakeholder meeting with RHAA representing the
Historical Society for the City Wide Park Master Plan. Attended Copertino Sister City
meeting for wrap-up with student delegation to Copertino.
Students plan to give short presentation to City Council on May 17. Attended her first
Senior Center class.
Commissioner Tambe attended the Cherry Blossom Festival. Knocked on doors to
distribute flyers regarding survey for the City Wide Park Master Plan.
NEW BUSINESS
2. Annual CIP Presentation – Public Works – Timm Borden, Director of Public
Works and Alex Acenas, Project Manager

Presented proposed FY16-17 Capital Improvement Projects for the Recreation
and Community Services department which is available on City website with
propose Budget.
Timm Bordon reviewed the successfully completed projects. Alex Acenas
described the proposed projects and their priority status. All to be discussed
at the City Council Study Session on May 17. Discussion followed.
3. Rotary Proposal for Stocklmeir Property – Wendell Stephens, Rotary
President
Presented revised proposal from what was previously presented to City
Council to reduce use for smaller group meetings. Discussion followed.
Recommendations requested from Commission:
Commissioner Tambe would like to continue exploring this proposal.
Commissioner Fung asked for more clarification in hours needed by Rotary.
Chair Stanek agreed that the City manage and not Rotary. Concerned about
vehicles driving onto property; look at other accessibility.
Commissioner Davis agrees that there may be parking issue and may impact
other organizations using property. Agree with City managing property.
Rotary is good resource versus other organizations.
Commissioner Wilson agrees with partnership with City which will add to
meeting space needed. Would like to see the vehicle access worked out.
OLD BUSINESS
4. 2015-16 Work Plan
Director Atwood reported the City Wide Park Open Space Master Plan is
continuing with increased effort for feedback through social media and
intercept events and workshops with which consultant, RHAA, can make
recommendations to Commission and Council.
Chair Stanek called for special meeting on May 23 at Community Hall to
discuss the City Wide Park Open Space Master Plan. Commission voted 4
yes with one absent to proceed with meeting.
ADJOURNMENT – Chair Stanek adjourned the meeting at 8:24 p.m.
