MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION
June 15 1h, 2016

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p .m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Pete Heller, Erik Lindskog, Sean Lyn, Vidula Aiyer
Absent: Gary Jones
Staff: David Stillman (Senior Civil Engineer),
Others Present: Ed Brown, Scott Hughes, Craig Hofstetter, Gerald "Jerry" Tallinger,
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
1. Ed Brown shared the June 13 1h, 2016 issue of TIMES Magazine regarding to
25mph e-bike sharing road with traffic or pedestrian.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1) The Commission approved the May 23 rd, 2016 minutes unanimously. (Motion:
Lyn; Second: Lindskog)
STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
2) Staff Report (Stillman)
a. The Cupertino City Council would discuss 2016 Bicycle Transportation
Plan at its meeting of June 21, 2016.
b. Plan to co-host with SVEC on Family Bicycling Workshop twice a year.
The first coming is in the first week of October.
NEW BUSINESS
3) Intersection Bulbouts (Stillman)
a. Lindskog' s concerns for safety is that bikers may be surprised by
emerging car due to the desjgn. Stillman said the design can improve
pedestrian safety. Lyn suggested clo se observation to this cross section
with the expected increased traffic.
4) Torre A venue Pedestrian Crossing at Library (Stillman)
a. Stillman presented plan for improvement. Various details were discussed
but there were no strong opinions on any changes. The plan remains as it
was presented.
5) Bike Repair Station (All)
a. Lindskog recommended a repair station near Coffee Society entrance,
which is next to City Library.
6) Items for Future Meeting Agendas
a. Heller wanted to review selected streets on biking and sidewalks.
b. Aiyer suggested discussion of city bike map.
c. Lyn recommend semi-annual review on progress of the items in 2016 Bike
Plan.
OLD BUSINESS
7) Bicycle Transportation Plan Update and Proposed Amendment to the Language
of the Stevens Creek Trail Extension (Stillman)
a . Stillman presented the proposed amendment and the Commission
approved it unanimously. (Motion: Heller; Second: Lindskog)
8) Update to Bicycle Pedestrian Commission Items Catalog (Lindskog)
a. Continued the discussion on Bradley
