1. Subject: Draft minutes of March 17,2016 meeting.
Minutes approved.
STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
2.Subject: Presentation on Sustainable Home Energy by Indradeep Ghosh
Mr. Ghosh provided a four-step plan on how to create a cost-effective sustainable and carbon neutral
household via retrofits that focused on: (1) energy efficiency(2) home electrification (3) electric vehicle
conversions and (4) renewable energy. Commissioners asked questions of Mr. Gosh, including his
recammendations on ways to drive residential implementation of these measures. His guidance was to
review Palo Alto's current water heater conversion rebate program,given that the City has already
advanced policy directives including pre-wiring for rooftop solar and electric vehicles.
The Commission brainstormed ways to showcase the learnings of Mr. Ghosh,which included including
him as a speaker in a future Sustainability Speaker Series (in partnership with the Library), filming a
presentation or tour of his home with the City Channel, hosting a Green Homes showcase, pairing with
the schools to disseminate environmental actions. Chair Swaminathan
Follow-up items:
Staff to invite the Library Commission to attend future meeting to discuss partnership opportunities.
Staff to check with Communications team to tape a "green home tour" of Mr. Ghosh's home.
Staff to learn opportunities to pair with the School Districts to better distribute information on
residential efficiency, potentially via a Green@Schools partnership expansion.
3.Subject: Climate Action Plan Progress Report 2015
Staff provided overview of the City's Greenhouse Gas inventory, Climate Action Plan and its
implementation progress to date. Staff answered questions regarding data sources, quantification
methods, and clarification of various greenhouse gas reduction measures.
Follow-up Items:
Staff to set up a presentation on the Food rescue program.
Provide an update on the Apple 2 project, especially the sustainable elements and purple pipe

4.Subject: Commissioner Reports
Commissioner Latshaw shared Stanford Energy Seminars
Chair Swaminathan shared a summary of the Mayor's Meeting and reported on ongoings of each
Commission.
