Stelling Rd, Cupertino, CA 95014 APPROVED MINUTES CALL TO ORDER at 6:07pm PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Chan, Gundu, Huang, Sahni, Vadodkar, and Yang Commissioners Absent: Fung Commissioners Tardy: Jandhyala, Reiisieh Staff present: Mestizo MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING a) March 23, 2016 -Commissioner Vadodkar motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Sahni seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS a) Oral -Pallas Wan from the SoundPost Youth Foundation visited the Teen Commission to discuss the 2016 Express to Destress Survey which requests input from teens on ways they destress. The survey included a component for teens to submit brief videos on destressing methods and all participants would be included in a raffle for prizes. The foundation requested help from the Teen Commission to help advertise the survey to schools in the Cupertino community. b) Written -none STAFF & COMMISSION REPORTS a) Commissioner Vadodkar gave a report on the Mayor's Meeting which occurred on April 5th. A brief summary was given on what fellow commissions were doing. NEW BUSINESS a) IDEA event debrief -The commission and staff liaison discussed the outcomes of the IDEA event and data from the event evaluation survey was shared with the commissioners. Changes that were exchanged included: encouraging more audience participation, advertising the event in advance, and getting speakers from more diverse careers and walks of life. b) Teen Marketing -Staff Liaison Mestizo asked the Teen Commission to provide input on teen marketing methods. Potential avenues for advertising are the school ASB, reaching out to school staff, and social media from the commissioners. OLD BUSINESS a) Cupertino Day Planning -Commissioners Gundu, Sahni, and Vadodkar agreed to run a booth at Cupertino Day at Blackberry Farm. They will be showcasing the Teen Commission events, teen programs within Cupertino, and requesting input on future programming. An active component to the booth was additionally discussed. MISCELLANEOUS -NO ACTION REQUIRED ADJOURNMENT At 7:43pm the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEmNG on Wednesday, April 2ih at 6pm at Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road, Cupertino.
