He was unsure or the ratio or striping in some or the lots to be changed.
Walt~r Ward, General Ma~ager 3 Vallao Par~ Ltd., described bow they were trying to correct all parking before the rains and the holiday season, and whilst theJ."'e was a windownbetween the Bullocks closure and Emporium ope11ing. They were trying to get patrons clof)er to the mall, he sa.:t.d, but confirmed tha.t for this season, ~he parking in the R0se Bowl area would remain, and all present parking would te available for the holiday season.
Michael D. Kelly, of Stone Marraccini and Patterson, architects, added that the parking structure was the first stage in the development process for the developable prop~vty remaining in Vallco Park, a!ld the rest:t'ip.inr; was tne :;;Pcond, and wculd allow the Hose Bowl area to be viewed as a devel0pment including a hotel. ·

He described the restriping of 1ot C, employee parking, in detail, adv1&ed that the Jots the Assistant Planning Direc-ter had been unaur2 of (hatched in orange on Exhibit A) would be re striped at L/ 0% c.ompact, and that, al."eas hatched in blue would remain at 25% compact. He emphasized that the amount of landsca~ing an~ the intensity of lighting would remain the same, and advised that all restriping was to be done by ffiid-November.
Questioned by Com.Iida.me ree;ard.ing phasing and wor.1<:1ne; hourn,, Mr. Kelly stated that schedules had to be worked out with contractors in increments, not jeoparidizing the functioning of the center. 'rhough there had to be some premium time involved,, as upgrading an<l repair work waa also in,~J.uded, the were sensitized to the residential area,, he aaid.
Com. Szabo wondered why stall density was not being increase in the blue-hatched parking areas.
Mr. Kelly ex~lained that 90% or these areas wer& under-structure, and could not be changed~ because of the place~ mPnt ot colwnns.
There was a short discussion with Mr. Ward to satisfy the Co1:1.m1sa1on that employee parking could be restricted to appropriate areas.
Q~eationed by Com. Mackenzie, ttr. Ne~son explained that the aisle widths would become wi~~r, and why.
Mr. Burl Leonard» Vallee Par•k Ltd., com."!'lented that he had been in ~ontact with the department store executives~ and had not found them all to be in agreemen~ on approaching the compact issue. He hoped they were able to place the . compact and standard cars in an acceptable pattern, though both types would: like preference, he observed, and alsn, some dep&rtment stores thought that 1n a few years, the industry wo 1 tlcl wo1•k towards one size(8!'t.)stall.He'had aeria photogrhphs to prove that put·t;ing all sizes togcth~~r worked out well,,he said. He concluded that tre program being presented had been found to be the most acceptable to all department stores, and that Vallco Park, Ltct.,relt they had as good a solution as could be found.
Edith Pederson, 19657 Amherst, wanted to nddreE3 the night traffic is~ue, as she had had some nervous moments over the past few y~ars. She pointed out two corners that youths used as P speedway, and wanted some kj~d of m~asurc such as speed bu~ps to slow down the traffic.

Mr. Ward promised Mrs. Pederson would be contacted with a number to call for a quicker response than the Shariff aould give 1 from Vallco security.

Mackenzie on whether the Rose Bowl area should be required to re"lert to parking eventuall;r,, Aaaistant Planning Director Cowan explained that the tuild-out of Vallee Park had already been approved,, apart from the design, and that this area was not planned to revert to a parking lot.
Com. Szabo regretted that tte 8 ft. 8 in. regular stall width had not been used in the recently completed Parking Ordinance.
Assistant Planning Director Cowan suggested t~e idea might be discu~sed at the end of the Agenda at the next Meeting.
