MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
a) September 9, 2015 -Correction: Back to School Bash had the incorrect date
listed. Date changed to September 18th, 2015. Commissioner Gundu motions to
approve minutes contingent upon changes. Commissioner Fung seconds motion.
Motion passes unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS
a) Presentation by Kelsey Hayes, Recreation Coordinator, on Event Planning and
Logistics -Kelsey visited the Teen Commission to discuss the importance of
detailed planning, the logistics involved with organizing events, and guidelines
for community events according to Cupertino policies and procedures.
b) Staff Liaison Role and Meeting Etiquette -Staff Liaison Mestizo discussed the
role of Staff Liaison, Commissioner responsibilities, and etiquette during Teen
Commission Meetings by reviewing points within the Commissioner Handbook
c) Selection of Chair and Vice Chair -Commissioner Chan elected as 2015-2016
Chair. Commissioner Jandhyala elected as 2015-2016 Vice Chair.
d) 2015-2016 Work Plan -Commissioners discussed potential project and areas of
focus for the 2015-2016 term. Finalized work plan will be decided at next
meeting on October 14th, 2015.
a. Mandated Council Projects 15-16 -Staff Liaison Mestizo discussed
projects City Council would like the Teen Commission to concentrate on
b. Recurring Projects -Commissioners Fung and Chan discussed projects
that 2014-2015 Teen Commission completed during the 2014-2015 term.
c. SAT Prep Idea -Commissioner Jandhyala brought forth the idea of having
a program where high school juniors and seniors would tutor and prepare
sophomores for the SAT exam.
d. Drought Education Idea -Commissioner Jandhyala discussed initiating a
program where drought experts visit middle and high school classrooms
to inform students on water sustainability options.
OLD BUSINESS
a) YAC Social Update -Staff Liaison Mestizo reminded Commissioners of the
YAC Social which is scheduled for 6pm on October gth in Campbell.
ADJOURNMENT
At 8:34 pm the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING which will be held
on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 6:00 pm at the Quinlan Community Center,
Conference Room, 10185 North Stelling Road, Cupertino.
