CALL TO ORDER at 6:34pm

ROLL CALL
Commissioners present: Chan, Fung, Gundu, Huang, Jandhyala, Reiisieh, Sahni,
Vadodkar, Yang
Staff present: Mestizo
COMMUNICATIONS
a) Oral
Jerry Tallinger, Public Safety Commissioner, came in and explained his role as
a liaison to the teens. Covered the Walk-one-Week event, how it relates to
the Teen Commission, and the new Safe Routes project.
b) Written
NEW BUSINESS
a) Oath of Office by Deputy City Clerk, Kirsten Squarcia -Administered Oath of
Office to incoming commissioners, delivered information on Brown Act and
meeting attendance requirement.
b) Significance of a commissioner's role by Public Affairs Director, Rick Kitson -
Spoke on how commissioners will be representatives of youth/teens in Cupertino,
and how community and City Council will seek their opinion on youth/teen
related topics.
c) Social Media & Community Outreach by Office Assistant, Colleen Lettire -
discussed the role of social media within the City of Cupertino and working
together with teens on improvement efforts.
d) Commission overview
a. Work plan -Reviewed the purpose of a work plan and how it will impact
commissioners and community.
b. Term Calendar -Reviewed calendar and important dates.
c. Chair & Vice Chair overview -Discussed expectations and roles of the
positions. Elections will be held at the September 23rd meeting.
e) Establish meeting time and location for term -Commissioner Fung motions for
meetings to have a 6:00 pm start time for the 2015-2016 term. Commissioner
Chan seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously.
f) 2015-2016 work plan brain storm -group brainstormed ideas for the term to be
decided upon at a meeting.
g) YAC Social -informed all commissioners of the YAC Social which is set to take
place on October 8th at 6pm in the Campbell Community Center. The YAC Social
is an event for the Teen Commissioners to meet their counterparts in
neighboring cities.
h) Teen Center promotion
a. Back to School Bash: September 18th, 2015 -staff liaison informed the
commission of upcoming event. Teen Commission suggested future
themes and possible marketing tools.

ADJOURNMENT
At 8: 15 pm the Teen C:ommission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING held on
Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 6:00 pm at Quinlan Community Center, Conference
Room, 10185 North Stelling Road, Cupertino.
