BPC 06-17-2015 MINUTES MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION June 171h, 2015 CUPERTINO The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Pete Heller, Gary Jones, Vidula Aiyer, Sean Lyn, EricXLindskog Staff: David Stillman Others Present: Larry Dean, Anastasia Novozhilova ORAL COMMUNICATIONS • Larry Dean, resident; reviewed progress of Walk Bike Cupertino (WBC). • Anastasia Novozhilova, employee of Apple Computer; presented various concerns about safety. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS ORDERS OF THE DAY 1) Staff Report from David Stillman; discussion of City Council budget. All items were approved by the City Council except the Mary Avenue Complete Streets Project. There is a draft staff report available. 2) Received VTA BPAC Report from James Wiant. Power Point slides are available. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3) Commission approved the May 20th, 2015 minutes. OLD BUSINESS 4) Bicycle Pedestrian Commission Mission Statement a. Awaiting consultant b. Pete presented his version c. Discussion—general objectives of the Commission for the consultant • Inner-city mobility for bike and pedestrians • Safe routes to schools • Transportation for adults, seniors. Emphasis on errands, leisure and local workers • Objectives should be rational • Set reasonable and attainable goals 5) Bike Plan Update—Next Steps a. Guidance to staff on picking a consultant. Commissioner's perspective: • A 2016/2017 Bike Pedestrian Plan be adopted by May 2016 • Begin work on new Plan by August 2015 6) Documentation of Items and Issues for the BPC a. David Stillman maintains a spreadsheet of"Hot" items b.
