MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
A) March 25, 2015— Delete typo (Commissioner listed twice) from Old Business, item C.
Upon correction of typo, Commissioner Prasad motions to approve minutes.
Commissioner Yun seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously.
COMMUNICATIONS
a) Oral—Audience members Sanjana Shah, Carl Rosenthal, Katherine Chung, and Steven
Chung introduced themselves to the commissioners.
b) Written- N/A
NEW BUSINESS
a) Commissioner contacts in the community—Commissioner Sriraman attended mayor's
monthly meeting and provided oral report to the commission.
b) Presentation to City Council preparation—Commissioners listed topics to be covered in
the presentation. Commissioners Murphy, Sriraman, and Trivedi will meet as a
subcommittee prior to April 22nd Teen Commission meeting.
c) Spring Break programs at the Teen Center—Commissioners brainstormed potential
themes and activities for the Teen Center during spring break. Recommendations will be
passed on to Teen Center staff.
OLD BUSINESS
a) Sounds of the City: Dress rehearsal debrief and final steps—Commissioner Murphy
provided update on facility set-up and performers. Staff Liaison Jahns provided update
on food options and timing of the event.
b) TED Talks Forum: Official name, location, marketing — Event will take place at Cupertino
Community Hall on April 25, 2015 from 2:00pm —4:30pm. Commissioners will promote
the program by way of flyer distribution, social media, and word of mouth. Commissioner
Sriraman motions to approve the name of the event as I.D.E.A (Inspire, Dream,
Empower, Achieve). Commissioner Smithline seconds motion. Motion passes
unanimously.
c) Walk-One-Week: Data collection and timeline template for 2015/16—Commissioner
Trivedi and members of the Morita Vista High School Green Society will reach out to the
schools to collect data and receipts for reimbursement. Presentation on W.O.W. results
and recommendations for 2015/16 will be made to the Public Safety Commission on May
14, 2015.
STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
a) Staff Liaison Jahns informed Teen Commission that the public discussion about the
General Plan Amendment has been moved to the May 19th City Council meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
At 7:59 pm the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING on.Wednesday, April 22,
2015 at 6:30 pm at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road, Cupertino.
