Teen 02-11-2015 CUPERTINO Cupertino Teen Commission Regular Meeting Wednesday, February 11, 2015 6:30 pm Quinlan Community Center, Conference Room 10185 North Stelling Road, Cupertino CA 95014 APPROVED MINUTES CALL TO ORDER at 6:33pm PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Chan, Fung, Murphy, Prasad, Smithline, Swamy, Trivedi, Yun Commissioners absent: Sriraman Staff present: Jahns MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING A) January 28, 2015- Commissioner Swamy motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Chan seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS a) Oral b) Written NEW BUSINESS a) Commissioner contacts in the community—Commissioner Murphy attended the community workshop of the General Plan Amendment on February 4. Staff Liaison Jahns provided update on Stevens Creek Corridor Master Plan discussion from the February 3 City Council Meeting. b) 2015/16 Teen Commission application and interview schedule—Tentative window for applications is March 4— May 8, 2015. This action will be discussed at the March 3 City Council meeting. OLD BUSINESS a) Walk One Week: Update from subcommittee—Commissioner Trivedi provided update from meeting with Monta Vista High School Green Society and Public Safety Commission representatives. Teen Commission will work with partnering agencies to implement the program at 12 Cupertino Schools. Commissioners Chan, Prasad, Trivedi, and Yun will attend the Public Safety Commission on February 12 to present their plan and request assistance. b) Intergenerational event: Entertainment and official name of event—Commissioner Murphy provided update on interested music groups. Commissioner Trivedi motions for the name of the event to be"Sounds of the City". Commissioner Chan seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously. c) Ted Talks Forum: Progress on facility and speakers–Commissioner Yun provided update on venue possibilities at Monta Vista High School. Commissioner Yun will follow-up with faculty and report back at February 25 meeting. d) Big Bunny 5k: Promotion to youth and teens–Commissioners brainstormed potential marketing methods. MISCELLANEOUS—NO ACTION REQUIRED a) Y.A.C.
