MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION
July 16th, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.

ORDERS OF THE DAY
1) Staff Report (Stillman)
The bike lane on Torre Ave. between Stevens Creek Blvd. and Rodrigues Ave. has been
approved by the City.
2) Received VTA BPAC Report (Wiant)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3) The Commission approved the June 18'1', 2014 minutes. All in favor.
NEW BUSINESS
4) Stevens Creek Blvd. Buffered Bike Lanes
De Anza Blvd. to Wolfe Road. 7-7.5 ft. lane, striped for bikes with a buffer zone. The
Commission agreed to a 2 ft. buffer for the bike lane. The Urban Bikeway Design Guide
provides a reference on options for bikeways.
5) Bicycle Transportation Plan Update
The plan needs to be reviewed by the Commission so they can make recommendations.
The Commissioners will review each bikeway to see if it should be kept, changed, or
removed while considering the new apartment complexes being built. The Commission
will discuss the plan at the next meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
6) Bike Rodeo Planning
The Bike Rodeo is scheduled for October 4th, 2014 at the parking lot in front of City Hall.
It will be managed by Safe Moves and focus on elementary and middle school children.
Mr. Stillman will look into having a fire tluck and a Sheriff attend the event.
7) School Commute Survey
A report of the key highlights will be shared with the City Council. The next steps are to
come up with recommendations for improvements and focus on key schools.
