Stelling Road, Cupertino, CA 95014 Approved Minutes CALL TO ORDER — 6:17pm PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Doyle, Mol, Prasad, Srnithline, Sriraman, Swamy, Trivedi, Yuri Commissioners Absent: Buvanesh Staff Present: Ganeles MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING A) February 12, 2014 Commissioner Yuri motions f_o approve minutes. Commissioner Doyle seconds. Motion passes unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS a) Oral Jerry Tallinger, Public Safety Commission, introduction of himself and here to inform Teen Commission he will be attending meetings on behalf of the Public Safety Commission on occasion b) Written - Mary Ave. Dog Park dedication will be April 3, 2014 from 5:00- 6:30pm NEW BUSINESS a) Walk One Week — Pooja Baxi - Taking place April 21 -28, 2014, working to expand to 50 Bay Area Schools - Would like backing of the Teen Commission in supporting Walk One Week, and would like assistance in reaching out to schools within Cupertino, so they may focus on schools outside Cupertino - Commission decides to support Walk One Week, however commission members will individually decide if they are willing to help reach out to schools on their own time b) Big Bunny 5K Run Sub Committee Update - Working with social media to promote event, possibility of giving teens discount - Drafting a proposal of their marketing plan to give Jeff Ordway c) Community Garden Information - Dave' Jahns will notify commission of volunteer dates, should they choose to spend a day taking part in community service on the garden d) Intergenerational Event - Date of event is Monday March 17th from 3:00- 4:30pm at Senior Center - Event will begin with light snack and table topic cards, followed by time to write charade topics, then begin charades, and closing e) City Social - Toppings & Topics, May 17th from 11am -fpm at the Teen Center - Commissioners to be invited, as well as local teens, Ice Cream Social to discuss any topics about Cupertino Teens may have questions or concerns about with commissioners - Flyer Development: Doyle - Promotion: Prasad, Smithline, Mol, Swamy f) Art Event - Event Kick -Off Friday April 11th from 5:00- 7 :00pm, root beer floats - Wall mural at the Teen Center of a tree with leaves, representing accomplishments and bucket list items of Cupertino Teens - Changes the wall art at Teen Center, gets involvement from others OLD BUSINESS MISCELLANEOUS —NO ACTION REQUIRED a) YAC Attack March 1St at Whisman Sports Center, 1500 Middlefield Road, Mountain View b) Scheduled Work Plan Presentation to City Council April 1st c) Teen Commission Recruitment ADJOURNMENT The Teen Commission adjourned at 8:56pm to REGULAR MEETING on Wednesday March 12th, 2014 at 6:15pm at Quinlan Community Center, Conference Room, 10185 North Stelling Road, Cupertino 95014.
