BPC 01-15-2014MINUTES MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION January 15 "', 2014 CUPERTINO The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners William Chan, Jill Mitsch, Pete Heller Absent: Vidula Aiyer, Ashish Kolli Staff. David Stillman Others Present: Gary Chao, George Schroeder, Joseph Rajakaruna ORAL COMMUNICATIONS • None WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS • None ORDERS OF THE DAY 1) None APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2) The Commission approved the November 20"', 2013 minutes as written. 3 in favor. 2 absent. NEW BUSINESS 3) Cupertino General Plan Amendment Update • Gary Chao and George Schroeder from the City of Cupertino city staff presented. • Planning is underway with several sections of Cupertino for potential development. • "Corridors" are being conceived to enhance the community. • The Bicycle Pedestrian commissioners were encouraged to participate in an online survey. The survey will impact the joint Council and Planning Commission meeting to be held on 18- Feb-14 at 3:00 p.m. 4) Election of Chair and Vice -Chair • William Chan was nominated as Chair and voted in. • Pete Heller was nominated as Vice -Chair and voted in. OLD BUSINESS 5) Survey Development The survey proposed by Commissioner Heller was reviewed and several suggestions were made. Commissioner Heller will make revisions and return it to Mr. Stillman. The survey will be finalized at the next meeting. Subsequently, Mr. Stillman will contact the schools to request publicity that will encourage parents to respond to the survey. 6) Bike to Work Day Commissioner Mitsch will handle the publici.t,y for Bike to Work Day this year. The decision regarding the location of the tent will be made in a future meeting. Mr. Stillman will look into publicizing other events. 7) Hotlist.
