PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
At 7:00 p.m., Chairman KC Chandratreya called the meeting to order in Conference Room A,
10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, California, and Ied the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL
Present: Chairman KC Chandratreya and Commissioners John Fiegel, Robert Harrison, and
Srilakshmi S'itaraman Absent: Jessi Kaur. Staff present: Recording Secretary Liz Nunez

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Minutes of April 27, 2010.
Commissioners Fiegel moved and Sitaraman seconded to approve the minutes as
presented. The motion carried unanimously.
PRESENTATIONS - None
NEW BUSINESS
2. Distribution of Distinguished Artist and Emerging Artist nomination packages.
Liz Nunez distributed the three nomination packages to Commissioners at the meeting.
Commissioner Kaur's package will be mailed or available for pick -up at City Hall. The
Commissioners decided to take all the materials home for review and return with their
selections at the June meeting. The award will be made on stage at the San Francisco
Shakespeare Festival on the weekend of August 141n
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
3. Status report from ad hoc committee ( Fiegel and Chandratreya) regarding opportunities to
leverage grant funds via the "Evolve project. Continued from meeting of April 27.
Commissioner Fiegel suggested that each commissioner start with contacting one school
district and possible sponsorship from businesses in the area proposing the Evolve program
ideas. After further discussion, the Commissioners agreed to move forward with this
project to determine further interest from school administration and sponsorship from local
businesses.

4. Continued discussion regarding an event on the "City Arts Day" with the help of other
organizations. (First Friday of each October). Continued from meeting of April 27.
Chairman Chandratreya discussed his conversation with Jan Rindfleisch, the Euphrat
Museum of Art Director, about opportunities for partnership at upcoming events with an
"Evolve" event.
Commissioners Fiegel and Chandratreya will draft a plan for an "Evolve" event at one of
the City Arts Day events and discuss further with the Commission.
COMMISSIONER REPORTS
Report from May Mayor's meeting with commission representatives (Chairman
Chandratreya)
Chairman Chandratreya reported on the various cost efficiency steps the City is planning.
Some of those include changing streetlights to induction fluorescent lights; the City and
Valley Transit Authority sponsoring solar panels on the Cupertino Library; and working on
traffic improvements for cars, bicycles, and pedestrians.
STAFF REPORTS
6. Reminder of upcoming Mayor's meeting with commission representatives, 2:00 p.m. on
second Wednesday of each month, in Conference Room A.
June 9 — KC Chandratreya
July 14 — Srilakshmi Sitaraman
Update on City Council budget study session.
Chairman Chandratreya gave a brief report.

local quilter. Articles are provided for information, and no action is required.
