NEW BUSINESS
3) Bike to Work Day
Commissioner Chan asked for ideas for improving the Bike to Work Day (BTWD). The
main goal is to increase participation since it has been stable for several years at the
current energizer station location at Quinlan. Mr. Stillman suggested that traffic counts
could be done at multiple locations to evaluate overall ridership while still maintaining the
Quinlan station. Commissioner Heller suggested increased publicity to companies and De
Anza College. Commissioner Kolli suggested making more use of the City's online
resources and social media as a publicity tool. Mr. Stillman will check to see if it is
appropriate for the Commission to publicize the Silicon Valley Bike Coalition's secondary
events related to BTWD.
4) Survey Development
Commissioner Kolli mentioned that the City has a mobile application and inquired
whether or not it could be used for the survey. Mr. Stillman advised to work with the
schools to publicize the survey. Commissioners should send potential survey questions to
Mr. Stillman before the next meeting.
5) Crossing Guard Study
Commissioner Aiyer reported that she reached out to the school district and learned that
they leave it up to the city to implement. Mr. Stillman reported that there is no evaluation
process to determine effectiveness of the current crossing guard locations, nor for new
locations. He has been in contact with Roger Lee in Public Works who is involved with
the crossing guard program. Criteria will be developed to evaluate each crossing guard
location to see if new ones are warranted.

The Hotlist was reviewed and updated. Planning Commissioner Takahashi sent an e -mail
