As requested, I reviewed the condition generated by the re
roofy}Ag of the duplexes located at the above referenced
addresses .
The roof has two distinct areas , a sloping portion and a flat
portion. The following is a description of the pre existing
condition and of the re roofing procedure .
1 .' -The sloped portion.
The pre existing condition: rafters with skipped sheathing
and wood shakes .
The re roofed condition rafters with continuous ix
sheathing and composition
shingles .
It is my opinion that , for any practical purposes , there
was no additional load placed on the roof . The additional lx
sheathing weights . 8 psf and it compensates the removed . 5 psf
from wood shakes ( 3 . 5 psf ) to composition shingles ( 3 . 0 psf ),.
2 . - The horizontal portion.
The pre existing condition: rafters with plywood and 4 ply
built-up roofing.
The re roofed condition rafters with plywood, 2x4 cut
slippers , second plywood and
briaflex membrane ( sealed down)
( see attached photos )
The total weight removed was 4 . 5 psf (built-up roofing) and
the total added load was 1 . 5 psf ( slippers ) + 1 . 7 psf
(plywood ) + . 95 psf (briaflex) = 4 . 15 psf , less than 4 . 5 psf
It is my opinion that, the roofing of these buildings did not
affect their structural condition.
This is a professional opinion formulated in accordance with
the civil engineering principles and practices . This is not a
warranty for the structural condition of the subject
buildings .

1. Prior to permit issuance, you must agree to comply with U.B.C. standards and manufacturers spells
on reroofing.
2. New roof coverings shall not be aoplied without first obtaining all inspection and written approval
from the building inspector. A final inspection and approval shall be obtained from the building
inspector when the reroofing is completed.
3. All types of roof shall be inspected prior to any roof being installed.
