PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION HELD APRIL 2, 2003

I. CALL TO ORDER:
The Chair, Emma Darknell, called the meeting to order.
II. SALUTE TO THE FLAG:
The Chair led the Salute.

IV. REVIEW SHERIFF'S REPORT
Commissioners felt that the charts that are contained in the Sheriff's report are no longer required.
Commissioners do not want citations by deputy to be listed in the report.
Commissioner Riddell told the Commission that he would like to see a School Resource Officer attend one
of the meetings, because his school has had four namotic busts. Commissioner Riddell said that the kids
have been getting arrested while in possession of black tar heroin.
V. ROLE OF COMMISSION:
Code Enforcement Officer Trybus presented a list of possible projects the Public Safety comrmssion could
work on.
Code Enforcement Officer Trybus told the Commission that the Sheriff's Office and County Fire would no
longer be required to attend the monthly meetings due to budget constraints.
Code Enforcement Officer Trybus told the Commission that the regular meeting could be held every other
month or quarterly.
Commissioner Riddell would like to see a formal motion on the status of the Public Safety Commission.
Commissioner Darknell told the Commission that the Public Safety ConUmssion should be more visible in
the Community, and Commissioner Darknell would like to write a colunm in the paper.

V. ROLE OF COMMISSION CONT.:
Commissioner Darknell told the Commission that she would like to address the issues assigned to the
Commission in the Municipal Code.
Commissioner Dot would like to see the Traffic Committee attend one of their meetings, before a decision
is made regarding the status of the Public Safety Commission.
Commissioner Darknell wants to speak with Council members, Lowenthal and James regarding the
Commission, and present the Municipal Code to them. Commissioner Darknell would like to get both of
the Council members input on the status of the Public Safety Cormmssion.
Commissioner Dot asked City Manager, Knapp if an incident occurs on school property is it the schools
responsibility, and not the cities.
