V. REPORT FROM THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE:

Blvd. for auto burglary. It is believed that this indivi&ml may be responsible for several other auto
The Commission was appraised of the s~atistigs for the special operation that was conducted at Vallco
wherein a full time raserve Sheriff's Deputy was s~ationed at the mall to handle the various calls for
service during the holiday season.
Crime statistics through the month of December 1997 will be forwarded to Staff and will be mailed to the
CommissiOll with the Jalluaty mimltes.
VI+ REPORT FROM CENTRAL FIRE
Battalion Chief Smith distributed fire statistics for the months of October and November 1997 and a fire
s~lmnmry for the apartment fire that occurred on Christmn-~ day on Alpine Dr.
The fire depa~ment has received seve~l calls for se~,ice at the Maxim building that is be'm§ renovated
for the Sun Microsystem occupation. The calls are related to the construction with various water flow
alal'llls alld sprinkler type s~ maLfunctiolls being illvestigated.
Chief Smith advised th~ commission that Cengral Fire is now respolldin~ into boKleting areas of
~mnyvale in an auto aid copacity as does Sumlyvale respond in borderiog areas of Cupel~dno such as the
