REPORTS
Santa Clara County Fire District
NOTES: Fire responded this afternoon to a transformer explosion on De Anza Blvd. just north of
Homestead Road. I- 280 ramp traffic signals were affected: signals in flash or dark at I-280;
Caltrans battery backup systems not functioning perfectly. Streetlights were out on De Anza
Blvd as far south as Lazaneo. City signalized intersections were all operational.
Fire discussed the PSC tour of the Seven Springs station and demonstration of the refillllight
truck.
Fire recently participated in the OES activation of the Golden Guardian Program. This time it
involved a 2-day mobilization in response to a hypothetical earthquake.
County Fire provided personnel and equipment to the recent Southern Cal Fires.
The Battalion Chief confirmed the indication of the fire statistics report that most fire events
were down over the previous year. One area where it has been up has been in vehicle medical
aid provided. It was noted that the statistics did not differentiate between response to events on
the highways and response to events on surface streets. The Battalion Chief said that he'd see
whether the statistics could be sorted to separate the two.
