Teen 05-16-02 CITY OF CUPE INO Teen Commission Regular Meeting Thursday, May 16, 2002 - § p.m. Cupertino Senior Center-Reception Hall 21251 Stevens Creek Blvd. Approved Minutes CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Busch, Colloton, Deora, Fang, Gatley, Golkar, Kolev, Lin, Liu, Noone, Zen Commissioners Absent: Staff Present: Frey, Christian COMMUNICATIONS a) Oral- none b) Written- Paul Morse- Student at Monta Vista High School emailed the commission about the skate park. He suggests that the skate park should include a miniramp. He also would like to see a permanent concrete skate park in Cupertino. · Email came to the commission regarding how nice the sk8 park pages on the website look. · Theri Rowen- Emailed the commission about a new teenaged Republican club at the Republican Headquarters. They had a meeting on May 9th, from 6-8pm UNFINISHED BUSINESS a) Job Faire Evaluation- Commissioners evaluated the Job Faire. Overall, they feel that the Faire went well. Suggestions were made to make it shorter in the future, put it on school calendars in the fall, and find companies earlier. They felt that publicity went well, as did the teen commission booth. b) Website- Adding a new horoscope link. Each commissioner will come up with a horoscope sign for a particular month and write a monthly horoscope. This will continue through the summer. C) "We Value Youth" Update- Update by Drew Golkar NEW BUSINESS a) Televising Commission Meetings- Motion made by Gatley, seconded by Fang to suggest to next years commission to discuss this topic next year. Motion failed. Motion made by Golkar and seconded by Gatley to recommend to next commission to televise important meetings and have the next commission decided what qualifies as an important meeting. Motion passed. Motion made by Golkar and seconded by Lin to have a summary written about the teen commission and post in the Courier. Motion passed. b) Teenage Health Hotline- Motion made by Golkar and seconded by Fang to add the phone number on the website. Motion passed. MISCELLANEOUS--NO ACTION REQUIRED a) Staff Report- none ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 6:20 pm to the meeting of June 1, at 5:00pm at the Quinlan Community Center. Respectfully submitted,
