MINUTES
Corrections to the March 19, 1996 minutes:
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
Commissioner Bedord will attend the April Mayor's breakfast
Minutes were approved as amended.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Three members of the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce represented the Chamber in a
request to accommodate the Art and Wine Festival by closing the library on Saturday and
Sunday during the festival. Discussion led to a compromise of closing the library parking
lot, but leaving the building open for service.
Since cars in the parking lot are the major problem, this solution seemed to be workable for
all parties. Library patrons will share the festival parking across Tone Street. Several
spaces will be available for handicapped persons closer to the festival and the library.
Library staff and Chamber representatives will think about mutually supportive programs
such as puppet shows and book sales and ways to notify patrons and make the weekend
more convenient. These items will be discussed at the May Commission meeting.

work on the elevator yesterday. Their first task was to take measurements
for the liner that needs to be ordered. Once the liner arrives, they estimate
that it will t~i~e 3 to 5 days to complete work on the elevator, provided no
