5. Commissioner Lohmiller made a motion to nominate Commissioner Luis Buhler for Chair for 1996.
Commissioner Hopkins seconded the nomination. All in favor. Buhler abstained.
6. Commissioner Lohmiller made a motion to nominate Commissioner Bob Hopkins for Vice-Chair for
1996. Commissioner Quinlan seconded the nomination. All in favor. Hopkins abstained.

NEW BUSINESS
9. Director reviewed information regarding the upcoming California Parks and Recreation Society
Conference in San Diego.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
10. Commissioner Hendrickson moved and Commissioner Lohmiller seconded the motion to approve the
minutes of the December 7, 1995 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. All in favor. Motion
approved.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS
11. A letter from Chair Quinlan and a letter from Commissioner Hendrickson was addressed to commission
and council indicating that they would not be reapplying for positions on the Parks and Recreation
Commission.

MONTHLY REPORTS
1'2. Director reported that the annual tree lighting ceremony was a success and would be an on-going
community event. The director also mentioned that the "Breakfast With Santa," assisted by the De
Anza Optimist club, was another event that was a success.
13. Community Contacts - Commissioner Quinlan reported that the County Fair Board has taken RFP's for
a study regarding uses of the facility in addition to the annual fair.
MISCELLANEOUS
14. There was no legislative update.
15. There was no Mayor's breakfast meeting.
16. Director commented that Commissioners Quinlan and Hendrickson will be missed both professionally
and personally. This group of individuals as commissioners are superior in terms of advisory bodies.
The director asked commission's permission to allow Bob Hendrickson to stay on the Creekside Park
Master Plan committee and also asked if Bob Quinlan could stay on as a representative on the business
development program. Commission agreed to this. Director announced that the Commissioner's dinner
would be held on February 2, 1996.
17. Commissioner Lohmiller gave a status report on Creekside Park Master Plan committee. He announced
that there will be a public meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 1996, 7:00 p.m. and a Master Plan committee
meeting on Tuesday, January 16, 1996.
18. The McClellan Ranch Task Fome had not met.
19. Commissioner Buhler gave a status report on the Stevens Creek Trail Committee. He reported on the
tour of the Mountain View trails.
ADJOURNMENT
19. Commissioner Hendrickson moved and Commissioner Quinlan seconded the motion to adjourn at 7:35
p.m. to the regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission on Thursday, February 1, 1996,
7:00 p.m. Council Chambers. All in favor. Motion passed.
