He also mentioned that the Crest Awards will be held on May 14th. 10. Commissioner Lohmiller reported on two events that occurred in the community. They were the Lions Club Fishing Derby and Rotary Club's fishing event with 3rd graders from Nimitz school. MISCELLANEOUS 11. Director updated commission on that a couple of legislators are trying to get a state bond measure for next fall that would provide funding for local park improvements. It is still in committee and has about a 60% chance of coming out of committee and be placed on the ballot. 12. Chair Hopkins reported on the Mayor's breakfast meeting. 13. Director announced the upcoming Walk-A-Golden Mile at the Senior Center and reported on the July 4th events of the day. Director also reported on the Heart of the City plan, specifically the Four Seasons Orchard park. He stated that there would be a joint meeting with the Fine Arts Commission to discuss this item. 14. Commissioner James reported that she met twice with the youth pastor at the church across the street from the Quinlan Center to discuss a pilot they are going to have in May for some portable skateboarding ramps, a basketball area and a go-cart area. They wanted to see if the city was interested in partnering with them. We are concerned about the church and state affiliation. She also mentioned that city council would like to have some additional updates and milestones along the way. It's been a slow process. The background work and reaching out to the community in small groups and one-on-one and seeing who would be the best to serve on the task force will take time. After we get past that point and have the task force, then we will be able to get going. We should be able to get a couple of pilots going rather quickly. 15. Director reported that the quarterly McClellan Ranch Park Task Force meeting is coming up this month. Our naturalist had back surgery and will be out about six weeks. ADJOURNMENT 16.
