P&R 07-13-00PRC#220 Unapproved CUPERTINO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA 10300 Torte Avenue, Cupertino, CA 95014 Telephone (408) 777-3200 MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION July 13, 2000 CALL TO ORDER Regular adjourned meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission called to order at 7:08 p.m. SALUTE TO THE FLAG ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Jelinch, Peng, Stein, Wang Staff present: Christine Hanel, Recreation Supervisor Pamela Eggen, Recording Secretary ORAL COMMUNICATIONS UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS Christine Hanel, Recreation Supervisor, stated an architect has been chosen for the proposed skate park. The architect is Zach Wormhoudt, Wormhoudt Landscape Architecture, Incorporated, a company located in Santa Cruz. The two sites currently being considered are Jollyman Park and Wilson Park. Christine Hanel reported on the current status of the Interim Teen Center pointing the success of Sunnyvale's pilot program called The Fishbowl. This program is a Saturday night Teen club that is offered at Le Boulanger Bakery and Caf6' in Sunnyvale. The program is sponsored by the Sunnyvale Parks and Recreation Department and will serve as a model in establishing a Teen Club/Center in Cupertino. She stated they are still in the process of investigating this infommtion and staff has no recommendation at this time. o Commissioner Stein moved and Commissioner Jelinch seconded the motion to approve the minutes of May 4, 2000 Parks and Recreation Commission meefmg as submitted. All in favor. MOTION: 4-0 4. Christine Hanel informed commission of the Senior Center Recognition Luncheon that will be held August 26, 2000 at the Quinlan Community Center. o Commissioner Peng presented an update on the McClellan Ranch Task Force stating the community gardens were under discussion. None. Christine Hanel mentioned the commissioner vacancy to be filled by September. Remembrance Ms. Terri Cook, Commissioner, Parks and Recreation Commission. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Jelinch moved and Commissioner Peng seconded to adjourn at 7:35 p.m. to the regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission on Thursday, August 3, 2000, 7:00 p.m,, at Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Tone Avenue, Cupertino, California 95014.
