Reso 5084 CITY OF CUPERTINO 10300 Torre Avenue Cupertino, California 95014 RESOLUTION NO. 5084 (Minute Order) OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO REQUESTING TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION LEADERSHIP & EXPERTISE IN THE PREPARATION OF A WIRELESS FACILITIES MASTER PLAN FINDINGS Whereas the Planning Commission of the City of Cupertino finds: 1. That it has the overall responsibility to approve or disapprove of new wireless communication aerial facilities in the City; and 2. That it has approved numerous aerial installations in the City and expects to receive numerous other applications for new aerials in the near future; and 3. That it uses the City's Wireless Communications Facilities Ordinance to guide the siting and design of aerial facilities on an individual basis, but lacks an overall master plan to guide the placement of aerials proposed by the seven or more wireless carriers currently operating in the City; and 4. That a wireless master plan is needed to determine network buildout for the City, assess cumulative effects of multiple installations and recognize opportunities for collocation of aerials; and 5. That the Commission lacks the technical expertise to prepare such a plan and the cost of a consultant-prepared plan is prohibitive;and 6. That planning staff resources are available to assist in the preparation of such a plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Planning Commission respectfully requests the leadership and expertise of the Telecommunications Commission be directed toward the development of a wireless facilities master plan for the City of Cupertino.
