A. Study Session—McClellan Ranch/Simms Master Plan
Director Mark Linder introduced City Staff, including Barbara Banfield,
Gail Seeds, Timm Borden, Terry Greene, and David Jahns. He also
introduced the meeting facilitators, Sharon Refvem and John Spotorno,
from Hawley Peterson Snyder, Architects, who gave an overview of the
Study Session agenda and what they would like to glean from the small
group discussions. City Staff gave a brief background of McClellan
Ranch and Simms property and the 1993 Master Plan. They also covered
what has been accomplished to date and the recent Grant Extension of
$251,000.
The residents and interested parties in attendance were also asked to
introduce themselves and their affiliations. They were then asked to join
others at the round tables and together make a list of key facilities and/or
1
Capital projects that will protect, enhance, and improve the desired future
of McClellan Ranch and Simms property while supporting the goals of the
Master Plan.
After a 25-minute small group brainstorming session, each table was
asked to share their ideas with the entire group so that City Staff and
Hawley Peterson Snyder Architects can evaluate the safety and cost of
each proposed Capital project and compile the ideas into a report they will
present to the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on February 2,
2012. Public input will again be heard and the Capital projects can be
prioritized at the February meeting. The final Master Plan report will then
go to the City Council in March.2012.
In addition to the feedback from this meeting, a City email address has
been created so that the public can send their ideas for key facilities or
projects that they would like to see included in the Master Plan. The email
address is: mcclellanranchmasterplan @cupertino.org
6. ADJOURNMENT - Chairperson Paul adjourned the meeting at 8:57 p.m.
