P&R 11-03-11 APPROVED MINUTES PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION CITY OF CUPERTINO Regular Meeting November 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Community Hall, 10350 Tone Avenue, Cupertino, CA Note: This meeting will be televised 1. CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Darcy Paul called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. in the Community Hall Council Chamber, 10350 Tone Avenue, Cupertino, CA. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3. ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Darcy Paul, David Greenstein, David Fung, Marcia St.Clair, and David Lee Commissioners absent: None Staff present: Mark Linder, Terry Greene, Gail Seeds, Timm Borden, Barbara Banfield, Dave Jahns, Donna Henriques 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS—None 5. NEW BUSINESS A. Study Session—McClellan Ranch/Simms Master Plan Director Mark Linder introduced City Staff, including Barbara Banfield, Gail Seeds, Timm Borden, Terry Greene, and David Jahns. He also introduced the meeting facilitators, Sharon Refvem and John Spotorno, from Hawley Peterson Snyder, Architects, who gave an overview of the Study Session agenda and what they would like to glean from the small group discussions. City Staff gave a brief background of McClellan Ranch and Simms property and the 1993 Master Plan. They also covered what has been accomplished to date and the recent Grant Extension of $251,000. The residents and interested parties in attendance were also asked to introduce themselves and their affiliations. They were then asked to join others at the round tables and together make a list of key facilities and/or 1 Capital projects that will protect, enhance, and improve the desired future of McClellan Ranch and Simms property while supporting the goals of the Master Plan. After a 25-minute small group brainstorming session, each table was asked to share their ideas with the entire group so that City Staff and Hawley Peterson Snyder Architects can evaluate the safety and cost of each proposed Capital project and compile the ideas into a report they will present to the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on February 2, 2012. Public input will again be heard and the Capital projects can be prioritized at the February meeting. The final Master Plan report will then go to the City Council in March.2012. In addition to the feedback from this meeting, a City email address has been created so that the public can send their ideas for key facilities or projects that they would like to see included in the Master Plan.
