CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Do called the meeting to order at 6:32 pm at the Quinlan
Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road, Cupertino, CA.

MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
Regular adjourned meeting: April 13, 2011
Sundaram motions to approve minutes. Sengupta seconds motion. Motion passes.

NEW BUSINESS
a) Gary Chao — Commercial district activation conversation/ Leadership 95014 -
Commission engaged in discussion following brief presentation on the
development of Vallco Shopping Center. New shop ideas as well as rational why
not to renovate center gave conversation and ideas to Mr. Chao for his project
and research for the Leadership 95014 program.
b) Teen Center spring break activities roundtable — Commissioners mentioned
activities such as "Ice Breakers" would help encourage more participation and
reoccurring participation.
c) May 27 Teen Center event planning/ discussion- postpone discussion to May
11, 2011 meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
a) WOW
a. High School- Commissioners expressed interest in a Facebook event page
to help encourage students to participate. Commission will provide
miniature brochure for students to log their participation in WOW.
b. C.U.S.D. closing remarks- Assign winning schools awards and designate
top walking middle and elementary school trophy winners, invitation to
City Council meeting on May 3, 2011.

d) Anti - tobacco Conference discussion- Commissioners brainstormed how they
envision the event to be effective with activity ideas.
Hands -on experience, cigarette dissection, showcase human organs, slide show
of cancer survivor and deceased, live music, ice breaker (cross the line), physical
simulation such as "Every 15 Minutes ", hospital scene/ simulation, science station,
break -off groups, testimonials, letters to/ from victims, reaction discussion to
testimonials, relating to life, advertisements, give tools to students so they can be
"certified helpers ", slogan, weave other drugs/ teen related hot topics into
conference.
MISCELLANEOUS —NO ACTION REQUIRED
a) End of year social- postpone discussion to May 11, 2011 meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
At 8:48 pm the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING on Wednesday,
May 11, 2011 at 6:30 pm to be held in the Conference Room at Quinlan Community
Center.
