Reso 4691 Heritage Tree Designation for Palm Avenue � CITY OF CUPERTINO 10300 Torre Avenue � Cupertino, California 95014 � RESOLUTION NO. 4691 � OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO ' APPROVING HERITAGE TREE STATUS FOR 33 CALIFORNIA FAN PALMS ON PALM AVENUE BETWEEN SOUTH FOOTHILL BOULEVARD AND SCENIC � BOULEVARD AS SHOWN IN EXHIBIT "A" SECTION I: PROJECT DESCRIPTION Proposed Heritage Trees: California Fan Palms (Washingtonia filifera) Applicant: Roger and Dana Stern Property Owner: City of Cupertino Location: Palm Avenue between S. Foothill Blvd. and Scenic Blvd. SECTION II: FINDINGS WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Cupertino received an application for heritage tree designation, as described in this Resolution; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission finds with regard to this application: 1) That the designation of heritage trees is important for the preservation and protection of significant trees. � 2) That the California Fan Palms along Palm Avenue have a unique historic value in its association with the noteworthy Las Palmas Vineyard and Winery and Cupertino's agricultural heritage. C 3) That the California Fan Palms along Palm Avenue have a unique historic value in its association with John T. Doyle, prominent resident of the west Santa Clara Valley. � NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That after careful consideration of maps, facts, exhibits, testimony and other evidence submitted in this matter, the application for heritage tree designation, is hereby approved and That the subconclusions upon which the findings and conditions specified in this Resolution are based and contained in the public hearing record concerning this Heritage Tree Designation for Palm Avenue March 11, 1996 page -2- application for heritage tree designation as set forth in the Minutes of Planning Commission Meeting of March 11, 1996, and are incorporated by reference herein.
