.04 Planning Commission Work Program CITY OF CUPERTINO 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, California 95014 DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT FORM Application: Planning Commission 2006 Work Program Agenda Date: August 8, 2006 Recommendation: Review revised Planning Commission work program Background: The Planning Commission adopted a work program on February 28, 2006, which was discussed by the City Council on March 7, 2006. The City Council provided the following direction to the Planning Commission: ~ Amend the tree ordinance to protect trees during construction ~ Merge the Planning Commission's study of obsolete research and development properties into the City Council's industrial building initiative The work program is scheduled for additional Planning Commission discussion to reflect the City Council direction and to review the revised projects and timeline for projects. Discussion: Three new projects have been added to the work program: ~ North Vallco Master Plan o The Planning Commission proposed this master plan after approval of the work program, and the City Council agreed to fund the first phase. ~ Redevelopment Area 5-year Implementation Plan o The City is required to create a new 5-year Implementation Plan for the Valleo Redevelopment area. A consultant with Redevelopment Area experience is preparing the plan, for approval by the City Council. ~ Department Service Delivery Study o The City Council budgeted a study of delivery of customer services, which will look at community development (building and planning), public works and other services provided by the City. The schedule for several projects has been adjusted as shown below. Adjustments are due to emphasis on the North Valleo Master Plan in terms of Planning Commission and staff time, and to applicants' submittal schedules. ~ Heart of the City Specific Plan ~ Crossroads Streetscape Plan J-r- l 2 ~ Review Rl ordinance re: RHS slope standards ~ McDonald Dorsa Quarry Site (private project) ~ North Tantau Avenue industrial to residential conversion (private project) Three projects have been eliminated: ~ Morley Brothers Building Permit/ Construction (land purchased by Apple) ~ Proactive planning and Homestead and North Vallco areas (accomplished by North Valko Master Plan) ~ Identify obsolete Research and Development properties city-wide (merged with City Council's industrial conversion policy) Enclosures Exhibit A: Planning Commission Work Program 2006 Exhibit B: Planning Commission Work Program 2006 Revised Prepared by: Ciddy Wordell, City Planner ~ Approved by: Steve Piasecki, Director of Community Development ~~ G:planningjpdreportjmiscjPLANNING COMMISSION WORK PROGRAM STAFF REPORT 2006 - 2 If-~ PLANNING COMMISSION WORK PROGRAM 2006 EXHIBIT A ';:() \ -j- Jan Feb March April May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb PROGRAMMED Heart of the City ...
