It was thought that if the cast here _s $5400, the City of Cuerti 'o
should appropriate $2500 and the City oi Sn Jose and the County
should contribute $250.. Th Planning Comr.issien recommended this
be moved up to 1974--75 hudget. '
Comm. Nellis said srie caould like to discuss the bike lanes from Bike lanes to
this area to Monta Vista I:igi School. She said this c ame up at onta Vista
the Town Hall reetine. She proposed it be considered for 1974-75. High Scheol
Chairman Buthenuth asked for conments from the audience. There
were none. He asked the staff to keep track of the accountin
for all. these changes, t make sure these expenes can be handled
in the year recommended. CoLun. Adams Tauld. like the staff to co:e

tions.
Mr. Faut said the Subce:nmittee wantad to ake t:ze point that every
effort be made te reduce the number of bike lane si;ns. The Actin
Director of Public 'orks stated tnat in order to eniorce the Code •
it is necessary to have the signs fairlS close together.

The Acting Director of Public Works stated that mot of the modi-
" f icatons are for the removal of the "pork chops" at ir.tersections
and movng the traffic signal back.
The Planning Commission concurred with the Subcommittee recom-
mendations for the modifications aC ttiolte and Prur.erdge, Stevens
Creek at Finch, and Saratoga-unnyvale Road at Stevens Creek Blvd.
Alma Dippel, of the Subcommittee, reported that the intersection
of_Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road at Bollinger gets a lot of traffic, and
three jurisdictions are involved: The would like this project
started right away. The Acting Director of Public iJcrks stated •
that the City of San.Jose is contemplating putin Bollinger Road
Chrougn to Stelling Road within one or two years.
As to the modification at Stevens Creek Blvd. and the Firehouse,
the Acting Director of Public Wor'.cs stated that at the present '
time it does not conforn to the nev rules of tratfic. The Central

As to the insta]_lation at Stevens Creek Blvd. anc Torre Avenue, the
Subcommittee felt strongly about putting this in an unprogrammed state
because it is tied in wiCh the Mariani project. They want iC removed
from tne 1973-74 budet. This depends on th General Plan results. .
It slould be he7.d in abeyance.
Comm. Nellis was concerned that if it is held in abeyance that'the cit.zens •
might feel the Planning Commission is prejudging on the location of
the regional shopping center. This is not the case.
The staff was instrucCed to come up with a definition for "abeyance".

The 5ubcommittee recommen3ed this be coordinated with the City of Sunnyvale.

by the Subcommittee.

Alma bippel said ttie Subcor, mitee had much discussion on this because

tht if the pZan line is to be modified soae time in the future it

The raft wa instructed to grepare a report as to what implications
there are if tliese itms are held in abeyance rather than in an

Nirs . Dippel asked that rhis ite^i be d scu, ssed alona ..ti=ith the

The elimination of .he "pork chops" is ior safety. Cars will then
