Additional description of program (program dates, frequency, etc.): Bike/Walk to School Day is scheduled for May 19, 2010 The planning is student -led and is a collaboration between the Monta Vista Environmental Commission (a group within the Leadership class) and PTSA adult volunteers Students are encoura_ed to bike or walk to school and those who participate are rewarded with a free breakfast served by volunteers The fourth period class with the most participation is rewarded with a pizza party And this year. the Environmental Commission students would like to hold a raffle every 10 minutes after 8.30 until 9:10 for individual prize give-aways in order to motivate more people, and also to address the problem experienced last year of too many people rushing in for breakfast towards the end of the How much improvement is expected from the program? 1-low will improvement be measured? We strive to achieve a 50% increase in the # of students walking or biking to school on that day and a 10% increase in the # of students doing so on an ongoing basis.
