OLD BUSINESS
2. Bike to work day results. The weather was beautiful, the bridge was open, and participation at
the Stelling Rd. energizer station was up about 30%. The Red Bull truck stopped by, as did
several groups of cyclists. Commissioners Walton and Paulsen went over to the new bridge for a
while, but most cyclists there seemed to be in a hurry. Commissioner Paulsen will supply the
counts to Rick Kitson with the City.
NEW BUSINESS
3. Preview of the Cupertino Bike Education Proposal. Commissioner Wiant handed out a
printout of a Power Point presentation he had prepared. Commissioner Alan Takahashi spoke
with John Sims regarding support of bike to school day. Principals and districts are showing an
interest in the solar-powered "Friekometers" that track a student's cycling to school activity.
Some schools are tying the distance cycled in with a geography lessen; others are offering prizes
and helmet adjusting.
Anne Ng and Commissioner Wiant went to Meyerholz School, the recipient of a Public Health
(TSCN) mini-grant.
The Mayor is interested in these activities.
4. Mary Ave. Bridge issues. Commissioner Takahashi will send out an e-mail summarizing the
concerns, which centered mainly on bollards, path width, and the Homestead/bridge intersection.

Updated Bike Plan, especially bike lanes
Bicycle crossing near Rodrigues
Start the process of a path along the creek behind the library
Bike/Ride to school
Status of bicycle education
