APPENDIX. Cupertino Bicycle/Pedestrian Commission Hot List
Item Location Bike Issue Priority
or Ped H, M, L
1 Rodrigues B This street is ~~n ideal route to the M
library from eiither Blaney or DeAnza
but there are cio bike lanes. Given the
parking problems at the library, this
should be something to evaluate
seriousl .
2 Stelling P Cross walk across from the Community H
Center is ve dan Brous
3 Torre at B No bike lanes For library traffic. Could H
Rodrigues this be made one-way like Kim? Again,
better bike ac~:ess to the library would
hel with the ]ibra arkin roblems.
4 DeAnza B Bicyclists leaving the North Entrance of M
and Mary DeAnza College to cross Steven Creek
Blvd to gain access to Mary Ave have no
visible bicycle induction loop for
detection. If wlassisted by a car going
straight ahead., the bicyclist must use
the pedestrian button to cross. On the
other hand, bicyclists wishing to cross
Stevens Creek from on Mary Ave have a
visible loop to gain access to the
cone e.
5 Rodrigues B Bicyclists traveling east on M
at DeAnza Rodriques to c:ross DeAnza Blvd to gain
access, say to ~~ity hall or the library,
have a faded l~~op for detection, but it is
nearly a car length from the cross walk
that would require the bicyclist to
move forward if a car wished to go
strai ht ahead or made a ri ht turn.
6 Rodrigues B Bicyclists traveling west on Rodriques M
at DeAnza to make a left turn onto DeAnza have
no visible indication of the left-turn
induction loo ~.
7 Rodrigues B Bicyclists traveling west on Rodriques M
at DeAnza to cross DeAnza to gain access to
schools, the college, or the Mary Ave
overcrossing leave neither visible
induction loops to go straight across
DeAnza nor make a left turn onto
DeAnza unles:~ supported by
automobile dE~tection. A bicyclist not
turning right is, therefore, vulnerable to
"positional" communication problems
after usin thc~ edestrian button.
8 Mary Ave B/P Approach paths to the Mary Ave Bridge M
Bridge are 8', while tree bridge is 12'. Given the
popularity of the bridge, the trail width
creates some dangerous situations
between bike; and pedestrians
es eciall wi~:h small children resent.
9 Mary Ave B/P Approach to the bridge right at the M/H
Bridge bridge entran~:e does not flair out to
match the bridge width. This makes
the Bollards at each end more of an
obstacle given bicycles will highly
prefer to travE~i in the center opening
given they would need to leave the path
to enter on thE~ left or right sides of the
bollards.
10 Mary Ave B Bicycles heading North off bridge going M/L
Bridge Weston HomE~stead or North on Mary
do not have ari easy connection to these
directions.
11 Several B Can the city install more share the road H
signs? A detailed list of ideal locations
can be roduced rather Basil .
12 Rainbow B Between Bubt- and Stelling, there are L/M
Ave several obstacles for bic cles.
13 McClellan B Complete the Bike Lane striping from H
Stellin to DeE~nza
