Commissioner Charles Caldwell called to order the regular meeting of the Cupertino Public Safety Commission
at 7:OS p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008 in the Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue, Conference
Room A, Cupertino, California 95014.

3. Discuss Teen Commission Recommendations for incentives to walk bike to school

The commission will follow up with Captain Calderone if any information has been received from the Teen
Commission.
4. Business District Watch

Commissioner Tamara Pow reports that Business District Watch is similar to Neighborhood Watch, and
more information can be obtain through the Chamber of Commerce.
5. Bike Lane violations on Miller Avenue at Creekside Park

Commissioner Charles Caldwell met with David Stillman. Captain Calderone has agreed with the city to
send officers out to the area to slow down the sp~~ed. The city does not currently have the funding to
straighten the curb to allow a wider bike lane.
6. Byrne Avenue at Granada Avenue accidents

Commissioner Caldwell met with David Stillman, :md they are looking into the matter. The commission
suggests speed bumps and repainting larger signs in the area.
VII_ NEW BUSINESS
1. Safety concerns with Playground equipment at Memorial Park
ACTION: NO

Commissioner Caldwell went out to the area and discovered that bolts were coming loose on the
playground equipment, and wood missing on the benches_ There was an earlier incident of smashed
pumpkins in the pond, and the city has since cleaned it up.
5. Speed, Accident, and Road Safety concerns around Hoover Park

Commissioner Daniel Nguyen discussed with the commission the need to act quickly. This situation will
require assistance from Captain Calderone to control the potential accidents and road hazards in this area.
