City of Cupertino - Art in Unexpected Places
Description: Art in Unexpected Places is an effort to beautify public
spaces, surprise and delight passers-by, and encourage the community
to reflect on themes and imagery that represent the heritage, natural
beauty, diversity and creativity of our city.
Harmony (April 2020, Blackberry Farm):
-Pilot project painted by artist Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Santa
Clara County and member of the Fine Arts League of Cupertino.
-The Arts and Culture Commission chose this mural as a way for
the community to reflect on themes and imagery that represent
the heritage, natural beauty, and creativity of our city.

City of Cupertino - Utility Box Art Contest - 2018
Description: Calling all young artists! Phase 3 of Cupertino's
"Energized by Art" Utility Box Art Contest is now receiving submissions
in response to this year's theme: How do you get around Cupertino in
the greenest, safest way possible for you? Winners will help transform
once gray and boring utility boxes into beautiful art for the whole
community to enjoy.
Application instructions:
-Download your application from cupertino.org/artbox.
-All applicant artists must be in grades K-12 and live in Cupertino
or attend a school located in Cupertino.
-Deadline for submissions is April 9th, 2018 at 5:00 pm.
Submissions must be made to Hongyun Art in person at 10457
S De Anza Blvd.

City of Mountain View - Public Art Program
Description:
-On a rotating basis, works of local artists are exhibited in the lobby
of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (MVCPA) and
in the Community Development Department's lobby within City
Hall.
-Exhibits are approximately six to eight weeks in length and viewed
by thousands of people visiting downtown Mountain View and
attending shows at the MVCPA.
-The Public Art program, supported by the City, encourages local
artists to showcase their talent, creating an open-air gallery that
enhances the daily lives of residents and visitors alike.

Description: The Utility Box Art program is a public art initiative that transforms common utility boxes into distinctive works
of art, creating a more vibrant, attractive cityscape. This program is provided by the Santa Clara Cultural Commission.

City of Palo Alto - Cubberley Artist Studio Program
Description: The Cubberley Artist Studio Program supports the vitality of the arts in Palo Alto by providing City-sponsored,
affordable studio space for artists, building creative community and fostering public engagement with the arts and artists.
The program consists of 22 studios for long-term and short-term artist residencies, and is administered by the Division of
Arts and Sciences, City of Palo Alto.

City of Palo Alto - Murals
Description:
-The Palo Alto Public Art Program put out a call in early 2023
for muralists interested in commissions in private development
projects, municipal projects, and mural festivals in a wide
range of scales and locations.
-Individuals, businesses, or property owners interested in
placing a mural on an exterior wall, construction fence, utility
box, or other location visible from the public right-of-way and
within the City of Palo Alto, may commission an artist
approved by the City of Palo Alto Public Art Program.

City of Palo Alto - ArtLift Microgrant: Utility Box Edition
Description: The ArtLift Microgrant Program launched in 2021 and
provided funding for 40 temporary projects by local artists and creatives
with the goal of helping the community recover emotionally and
economically from the pandemic through the arts and creative outlets.
Utility Box Edition (2024):
-The City of Palo Alto’s Public Art Program has made twenty $1,000
ArtLift Grants available to Palo Alto and Bay Area-based artists to
transform utility boxes into distinctive works of art throughout
commercial corridors and residential neighborhoods of Palo Alto.
-Artists will paint the boxes exploring themes of community
connectedness, empathy, and vibrancy.
-The utility boxes will be painted during the summer and fall of 2024.
