It would have been good to have more information, but the idea is good. • Because there are not many applicants, approving this one might help to get the program going. Business and Boba – Event was not able to come to fruition in spring. Now trying to revamp with a different sponsor for Boba. Tentatively scheduled for next spring. Speaker based event addressing entrepreneurialism and business. Pizza and Politics – Back this year in October. Happens every other year. Hosted traditionally with cities of Saratoga and Campbell. Three sections to the event. First Mayor’s Roundtable. Second FUSHD roundtable. Third student debate. Will have a Teen Commission moderator, likely the chair. Cupertino Café – Event in December. Used to be in December and May, but May had less participation so was stopped. This is an open hall study session with snacks and booth partners. Likely will be December 14. Spelling Bee – Starting in 2023, event was planned by YAB and moderated and judged by Teen Commission. Surveys from parents loved the format. HACK – Overnight hackathon. This year was the first year we charged for the event. Initially it was $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents. We discounted the fee to $5 and $10 because of low participation numbers initially. Want feedback on whether we should continue the overnight format. Summer Kickoff and Splash Bash – Similar to end of school events. End of May event. Is it better to move event to end of summer or beginning of school year? Questions from Commissioners: • None Comments from Commissioners: • Keep HACK overnight. • The end of year event should be in mid-June. Teens are too busy in May.
