The purpose of the council is to be aware of the needs of all members of the Center, to
help plan and evaluate activities, to sponsor projects that help other seniors in the
community, to create a friendly environment for all who come to the center and to
promote awareness of the positive contributions of seniors to the community at large.

Information and Assistance - Key Findings
●Not knowing what services are available to older adults in your community - 71% problematic
●Having adequate information or dealing with public programs such as Social Security,
Medicare, and Medicaid - 50% problematic
●Providing care to someone age 55+ - 35% of sample
●Feeling like your voice is heard in the community - 45% problematic
●Used a senior center in your community - only 19% of the 50+ respondents
●Used a public library in your community - 67% of respondents
●I have high-speed internet/broadband at home - 96%, though 18% reported their internet was
unreliable.
Initial Asks for the Library
●Continue current services
○Bookmobile to senior communities
○Classes on Libby, ebooks, etc. at Senior Center - Needs promotion by the library
●Add “Older Adult” to your programming categories - break out from Adult
●List Senior Center as a resource on the Community Resources webpage
●List Social Services resources , i.e. West Valley Community Services, Sourcewise
●Develop additional approaches to direct older adult library patrons to senior center
resources?
●Highlight availability of social services?
●Collaborate with Library Foundation and Friends of the Library?
