REGULAR TEEN COMMISSION MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
At 6:05 p.m. Chair Shah called the Teen Commission meeting to order.
ROLL CALL
Present: Biswari, Chen, Cheung, Garg, Gupta, Hu, Kumar, Mukherjee, Shah. Absent: none Staff:
Sonya Lee, Robert Kaufman.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Subject: Approval of Minutes – November 8, 2023
Recommended Action: Review and approve the minutes from the Teen Commission
meeting on November 8, 2023.
Commissioner Chen moved to approve the November meeting minutes and Vice Chair
Cheung seconded the motion. The commission voted 9 to 0 to approve the minutes.

2. Subject: Discuss City Council Work Program Items for 2024
Recommended Action: Recommend City Council Work Program Items for 2024
Councilmembers read through the Work Program items sheet included in the agenda
packet.
The following items were suggested by Commissioners as potential work programs to
recommend to City Council:
• Support for the Unhoused
• Intergenerational Programming
• Student Internship
• Youth Who Work
• New Bicycle Pedestrian Plan
One new item was suggested:
• Media Literacy Program for Teens
After voting for priority, the following items were chosen as the top three:
• Intergenerational Programming
• Student Internship
• Youth Who Work
Staff Liaison, Sonya Lee, asked to have an alternate third work program item because
Intergenerational Programming is active right now and may not be eligible to add to the
list.
New Bicycle Pedestrian Program was added to the list to replace Intergenerational
Programming.
3. Subject: Update on Teen Resource Fair
Recommended Action: Receive an update on the Teen Resource Fair from Recreation
Coordinator, Robert Kaufman.
Commissioner questions:
• Will this be a Parks and Recreation Staff event or a Youth Activity Board (YAB)
event?
o This will be a joint staff and YAB event.
• How will staff connect with the businesses at Main Street?
o Staff has not yet started to make contact, but it will be through the Main
Street contact.

Commissioner Comments:
• If staff would like to add a college preparation component a suggested
organization is Bay Area Youth Career Opportunities.
STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
• Staff Updates
o Staff Report
Sonya Lee addressed a letter received by teen commissioners requesting
that they do a joint program with Saratoga. YAB coordinates teen
programs for Cupertino, but there is no budget to collaborate with
Saratoga teens this year.
Robert Kaufman gave an update on teen programs and events.
• Commissioner Updates
o No updates.
COMMISSIONER ATTENDANCE AT UPCOMING MEETINGS AND EVENTS
Mayor’s meeting attendance discussion was deferred because the next meeting date is not yet
set.
FUTURE AGENDA SETTING
No future agenda items were added.
