P'LEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
At 7:07 p.m., Chairperson Michael Sanchez called the meeting to order in Conference
Room C, IO300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, California, and Ied the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL
Present: Chairperson Michael Sanchez, Vice Chair Rajeswari Mahalingam and
Commissioners Russell Leong, and Diana Matley
Absent: Jessi Kaur
ST AFF REPORT
Newly elected council members are Darcy Paul and Savita Vaidhyanathan; Rod Sinks
elected mayor, Barry Chang elected Vice Mayor.
The General Plan Amendment; with the exception of building heights, community
benefits, development allocations, was adopted in December 2014. A community
workshop is scheduled for February 4fh, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in Community Hall.

CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Approved minutes from the special meeting on June 23'd, 2014. Commissioner
Mahalingam moved to approve the minutes; Commissioner Leong seconded the
motion. The motion passed with a vote 4-0-1 vote, with Commissioner Kaur absent.
Approved minutes from July 28, 2014. Commissioner Matley moved to approve the
minutes; Commissioner Sanchez seconded the motion. The motion passed with a
vote 4-0-1 vote, with Commissioner Kaur absent.

Minutes from September 22, 2014 and November 24, 2014 were not available and
carried to next meeting.
ACTION ITEMS
2. Youth Art Program:
The new youth art program, named Cupertino Young Artist, will be added to
Distinguished Artist (DA) and Emerging Artist (EA) categories for the annual artist
awards.
* Staff will request an additional $250 in the budget for $25 Michael's gift
certificate, award trophy and certificate for the youth art category.
* The contest will be promoted starting in March at schools, art schools,
festivals, Happy Kids Day, along with the DA and EA solicitation.
* Original artwork submissions must be two-dimensional, no larger than l0xl7
inches, one submission per artist. Dance and music submissions will not be
accepted. Digital submissions only, no original art. Submission criteria will be
on contest notice.
* Age categories will be as follows:
Young Artist:
Emerging Artist:
Distinguished Artist:
6-10 years old
11-14 years old
15-18 years old
19-30 years old
31 and up
Commissioner Sanchez moved to adopt a policy regarding the initiation of a
Cupertino Young Artist Award as an addition of the EA and DA awards program;
Commissioner Leong seconded the motion. The motion passed with a vote 4-0-1
vote, with Commissioner Kaur absent.
