This was a teleconference meeting with no physical location. ROLL CALL Present: Cheung, Ding, Gupta, Halambi, Kasamsetty (6:09 p.m.), Kumar, Luu, Qin, Shah, Tarra. Absent: none. Staff: Sonya Lee, Robert Kaufman. All commissioners teleconferenced for the meeting. CEREMONIAL MATTERS & PRESENTATIONS APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Subject: Approval of Minutes – December 14, 2022 Recommended Action: Review and approve the minutes from the Teen Commission meeting on December 14, 2022. Commissioner Qin motioned to approve minutes. Commissioner Tarra seconded the motion. Minutes approved. WRITTEN/ORAL COMMUNICATIONS No written or oral communications received. OLD BUSINESS No old business. NEW BUSINESS 2. Subject: Update to the Youth Led Organization Process for Fiscal Year 2022-23. Recommended Action: Receive an update on the Window Decorating for the Youth Led Organizations Process for Fiscal Year 22-23 from Recreation Manager, Sonya Lee. Sonya Lee gave an update on the process for the Window Decorating event for Youth Led Organizations. She clarified the application process, what materials would be provided, and the rules 6 Cupertino Teen Commission Minutes January 11, 2023 for the artwork approval. She solicited feedback from the Commissioners. The discussion and suggestions were as follows: Flyers should be given to the Commissioners. Commissioners will work to get in their school announcements and/or weekly emails. The program should be promoted on the City Instagram account with hashtags and online challenges, so that Commissioners can share. Staff should reach out to the Rotary Club to promote to the YLO’s that the Rotary Club works with. Staff should reach out to FUHSD Foundation to promote to the YLO’s that the foundation works with. Commissioners asked if non-resident YLO’s could apply. Staff indicated that if the YLO serves Cupertino youth, they can apply. Commissioners can give a higher priority ranking to resident YLO’s if there are less windows available than there are applications. Commissioners will work to get the flyers/information to school ASB’s or school PTA’s. Staff reviewed local, public middle school and high schools and Commissioners indicated where they had contacts.
