Teen 12-14-2022 APPROVED MINUTES CUPERTINO TEEN COMMISSION Wednesday, December 14, 2022 REGULAR TEEN COMMISSION MEETING CALL TO ORDER At 6:01 p.m. Vice Chair Halambi called the Teen Commission meeting to order. This was a teleconference meeting with no physical location. ROLL CALL Present: Cheung, Gupta, Halambi, Kumar, Luu, Qin, Shah, Tarra. Absent: Ding, Kasamsetty. Staff: Sonya Lee, Robert Kaufman. All commissioners teleconferenced for the meeting. CEREMONIAL MATTERS & PRESENTATIONS APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Subject: Approval of Minutes – November 9, 2022 Recommended Action: Review and approve the minutes from the Teen Commission meeting on November 9, 2022. Commissioner Pranav motioned to approve minutes. Commissioner Tarra seconded the motion. Minutes approved. WRITTEN/ORAL COMMUNICATIONS No written or oral communications received. OLD BUSINESS No old business. NEW BUSINESS 2. Subject: Update to the Youth Led Organization Process for Fiscal Year 2022-23. Recommended Action: Receive a presentation on the Youth Led Organization Process for Fiscal Year 22-23 from Recreation Manager, Sonya Lee. Sonya Lee gave a presentation on the updated process for Youth Led Organizations for the Fiscal Year 2022-2023. A consolidated, one-time application process was presented. The YLO’s will be highlighted through decorating a window on the back of Quinlan Community Center with a spring theme. The Cupertino Teen Commission Minutes December 14, 2022 window will include the organization name and decoration. The decorations will highlight the organizations during several spring events held at the Community Center in spring 2023. Organizations will be invited to present to Teen Commission. The Commission will promote the program and assist in reviewing applications. The proposed day for the window decorating is March 25, 2022 which will coincide with the Summer Jobs Fair. Commissioners had some general questions regarding the application process and specifics to the program. Staff will be clarifying the process and giving an update in January. STAFF & COMMISSION REPORTS 3. Subject: Monthly Update Reports Recommended Action: Receive monthly update reports from City Staff and Teen Commissioners. • Staff Updates o Robert Kaufman, Teen Coordinator, provided a staff update.  Tree Lighting December 2  Breakfast with Santa December 3  Santa Visits  Cupertino Café December 17  Spelling Bee- Call for Commissioners to be judges o Sonya Lee, Recreation Manager, clarified requests for information regarding the potential return to in-person meetings. • Commissioner Updates  Last Mayors Meeting was cancelled COMMISSIONER ATTENDANCE AT UPCOMING MEETINGS AND EVENTS • Commissioner Cheung will attend the next Mayor’s Meeting. FUTURE AGENDA SETTING No future agenda items were added.
